Despite its somewhat controversial exterior, the Lyriq delivers what you’d expect from a luxury electric vehicle. It’s a bit different from its competitors, focusing less on performance and more on what buyers in this segment value: comfort. With a luxurious cabin, great ride quality, and a decent range, the Cadillac Lyriq is a well-put-together electric SUV.

Performance & Comfort

The Lyriq puts comfort ahead of performance, and that’s clear as soon as you drive it. Acceleration is decent thanks to the instant torque you get from an EV. The dual-motor version can reach 100 km/h in under six seconds, which is quick for most SUVs, especially compared to gas-powered models. Still, it doesn’t have the sharp, punchy acceleration some might expect from an electric vehicle—but that’s not really what the Lyriq is going for.

Handling may leave something to be desired if you’re looking for a sportier feel. The steering is light and a bit floaty, and the Lyriq can feel heavy and sluggish in corners. Again, this comes down to Cadillac prioritizing a smooth ride over performance dynamics.

Where the Lyriq shines is in ride comfort. It delivers the kind of smooth, refined experience you’d expect from a Cadillac. Whether you’re on city streets or rougher roads, the suspension soaks up bumps with ease. The cabin is also impressively quiet, which stands out even more in an EV where there’s no engine noise to cover up sounds from outside.

Interior

Cadillac has truly delivered on interior design with the Lyriq. The cabin feels premium and well-crafted, just as you’d expect from a luxury brand. The layout is clean and thoughtfully organized, and the massive 33-inch LED display adds a modern, elegant touch without overwhelming the space. Unlike some EVs that go overboard with screens and tech, the Lyriq strikes a balance that feels high-end rather than flashy.

The climate controls have their own set of physical buttons, which not only look good but also make adjusting settings quick and easy without diving into menus. The infotainment system is controlled by a solid-feeling rotary dial and additional physical buttons, which add to the overall sense of quality and refinement.

Passenger space is generous in both rows, offering a comfortable ride for everyone. Visibility is great overall, though the rear view is slightly limited due to the sloping roofline. Thankfully, the rear vision camera helps make up for that, making parking and reversing much easier.

Technology

Super Cruise and the Google-powered infotainment system are two of the Lyriq’s most impressive interior features. The 33-inch display stretches across the dash, combining the digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen into one sleek centrepiece. The gauge cluster is highly customizable, and the infotainment system is intuitive and easy to use, thanks to Google’s built-in software. While the visual design of the interface could use some polish, the overall functionality is smooth and reliable.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available, which work seamlessly. This stands out because other new GM EVs, like the electric Blazer, have removed support for these platforms, something many see as a step backward, since Apple and Google often offer better and more familiar interfaces than automakers can build on their own.

Cadillac’s Super Cruise is one of the best parts about the Lyriq. It allows for hands-free driving on select highways and performs exceptionally well. It’s one of the most advanced systems in the industry and helps reduce driver fatigue, especially during long commutes or heavy traffic.

Storage

The Lyriq provides 793 litres of cargo space behind the second row, which is more than enough for most everyday needs. While the sloping rear roofline slightly reduces vertical space, overall storage remains competitive for its class.

Inside the cabin, storage is practical and well-designed. A cubby slides out from the front dash for quick access to small items, and there’s a large open compartment between the front seats that’s perfect for stashing bags and electronics.

Range

Range is one of the most important factors for EV buyers, especially for those moving over from gas-powered vehicles. The Cadillac Lyriq delivers strong range in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. The RWD model offers up to 505 km on a full charge, making it ideal for long drives and road trips. The AWD version isn’t far behind, with up to 494 km of range, still excellent for its class. The small difference in range means the decision comes down to price and preference. Since the RWD model is more affordable and goes slightly farther, it’s the better pick for buyers focused on maximizing range.
