The BMW 3 Series has been the go-to choice for drivers who want an entry-level luxury sedan. The 2025 BMW 330i xDrive doesn’t break that tradition, instead, it modernizes it, offering more value. With some design updates, more intuitive tech, and a turbocharged powertrain that balances power and efficiency, the latest 3 Series sedan continues to be one of the most compelling vehicles in the segment. For buyers looking to enter the luxury segment or looking to upgrade, the 330i is a great choice, offering a well-rounded mix of comfort, refinement, and value at a reasonable price point.

For 2025, the 330i gets a minor refresh, not a full redesign. BMW has refined its best-selling sedan with good improvements throughout. The new infotainment system is now standard across the lineup, offering faster response times, improved voice control, and a more smartphone-like interface. The digital instrument panel and infotainment screen have been merged into BMW’s Curved Display, dashing feel both modern and intuitive. BMW also offers over-the-air software updates, ensuring that the tech inside your car doesn’t fall behind.

There’s also a subtle exterior refresh carried over from 2023’s LCI update, which includes a sharper front bumper, slimmer LED headlights, and a revised rear fascia. While these may seem minor, they help keep the 3 Series looking current next to newer rivals like the redesigned Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Performance

Under the hood, the 2025 330i xDrive retains the 2.0L turbocharged inline-four from the outgoing model. It makes 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty for everyday driving and most driving situations. While acceleration isn’t especially quick by today’s standards, it’s still more than enough for a non-performance sedan, hitting 100 km/h from a standstill in just under 6 seconds.

What makes the 330i special is not only the acceleration but the way it responds. Throttle input is sharp, the steering is well-weighted and precise, and the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission is arguably the best in the segment. Gear changes are smooth and not noticeable in Comfort mode, but quick and snappy when you switch to Sport mode. You can also use the paddle shifters if you want more control, and want to do spirited driving.

The xDrive all-wheel-drive system is standard in Canada and is one of the best systems in the automotive industry. It works well to distribute power between the front and rear axles depending on traction needs. It adds confidence in poor weather without making the car feel numb or prone to understeer like some AWD systems do. You still get the rear-biased feel that BMWs are known for.

Handling is one of the 330i’s strengths, as you’d expect from a BMW product. The chassis is balanced and composed, and the car stays flat through corners with little body roll. The M Sport suspension sharpens things up further, but even in its base form, this is one of the best-handling sedans in its class. The suspension also does a good job of absorbing bumps and potholes in the road without sacrificing too much comfort.

Interior & Technology

The 330i has a clean, driver-focused layout and high-quality materials. The design is minimal but elegant, with a blend of brushed aluminum, open-pore wood (on higher trims), and soft-touch plastics. Everything feels well-assembled and upscale, without the cluttered feel some of its competitors still carry.

The centerpiece is the BMW Curved Display, which can be found on most new BMW products. It includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central infotainment screen, housed under one seamless glass panel. It’s clear, responsive, and well integrated. BMW’s iDrive 8.5 brings new shortcut buttons to the touchscreen interface, a customizable home screen, and a more advanced voice assistant that responds to natural commands.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and connected services via BMW’s cloud platform. Optional upgrades include a head-up display, wireless charging pad, and a Harman Kardon sound system that delivers powerful audio and is a huge step-up from the base audio system.

The seats in the BMW 330i are supportive and comfortable. They’re well-bolstered enough to keep you in place, yet cushioned for long drives. The standard seats offer good adjustability, including thigh support and side bolstering. Inside, there’s plenty of room for both the driver and passenger in the front with a seating position that feels low and sporty without sacrificing comfort. Rear seat space is decent for the class, taller passengers may find headroom a bit tight due to the sloping roofline, but legroom is more than good enough for most adults.

The 330i is one of the more practical options in the compact luxury sedan segment, thanks to 480 litres of trunk space. This is more than enough for everyday needs, whether it’s grocery runs or weekend getaways. The trunk is easily accessible, and the 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats add versatility for longer or bulkier items.

Fuel Economy

The 330i is also one of the most fuel-efficient gas vehicles in BMWs lineup. It’s rated at 8.9 L/100 km in the city and 6.9 L/100 km on the highway, for a combined average of around 8.0 L/100 km. While the 3 Series doesn’t offer a traditional plug-in hybrid, it does feature a mild-hybrid system. This 48-volt setup supports the 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine, helping to boost efficiency without changing how the car drives.

Pricing

The 2025 BMW 330i xDrive starts at around $60,000. Well-equipped versions can push the total closer to $70,000. While not necessarily cheap, the 330i is still a great entry into the luxury segment if you don’t want to break the bank.

The new and improved 330i remains the gold standard for a compact luxury sedan. It feels expensive in all the right ways, from the build quality to the drive and handling. The standard xDrive AWD system, efficient turbo engine, and premium features make it a great year-round luxury vehicle, especially if purchasing your first vehicle in this segment.
