The latest Honda Accord is an excellent choice for families seeking a midsize sedan. The Sport Hybrid model stands out with its sleek exterior design, spacious interior, and exceptional fuel efficiency.

In our vehicle rankings, we have rated the Honda Accord as the best midsize sedan on the market. It is hard to beat in this segment, as it checks all the boxes of what buyers want.

Performance & Handling

The hybrid model comes with a 2L 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine paired with two electric motors. This engine produces 204 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired with an Electric-Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT). Unlike traditional transmissions, the E-CVT is smooth and unobtrusive, making the driving experience seamless for most drivers. While it’s not quick, the power delivery is good, and combined with impressive fuel economy, the Accord is an excellent choice for daily driving.

When it comes to handling, the Accord excels in a segment that doesn’t always prioritize sporty performance. The steering lacks road feedback, but it compensates with responsiveness which makes for a good driving experience. The suspension effectively absorbs bumps on rough roads, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride. This well-rounded appeal, beyond just fuel efficiency and power, makes the Accord a great choice in the competitive midsize sedan market.

Interior & Comfort

Honda excels at creating practical and spacious interiors, and the Accord is no exception. The interior design is straightforward and attractive, with everything conveniently placed for ease of use. The presence of physical climate control buttons is a practical and appreciated feature. A cool design element inside the cabin is the cleverly hidden HVAC air vents, concealed behind a stylish honeycomb trim, also found in the new Civic.

Despite the Accord’s lower ground clearance, its large door openings make entering and exiting the vehicle easy. The cabin feels open and spacious, offering ample room in both the front and rear seats. Comfort is prioritized, with generous legroom in both rows ensuring a comfortable ride for all passengers. Additionally, the Accord remains quiet at higher speeds, contributing to a sense of luxury that sets this sedan apart from its competitors.

Practicality is a key focus inside the Accord, and Honda has made adjusting the climate settings simple with physical buttons. Unlike touchscreens, which can be inconvenient for climate control, these traditional buttons are a welcome feature. The Accord’s climate control system works efficiently, maintaining a comfortable cabin environment.

Technology & Connectivity

The Sport trim features a standout 12.3-inch touchscreen, making it a focal point in the interior. Its size and placement enhance both the cabin’s appeal and functionality. Interestingly, while this impressive touchscreen is available in the Accord, it is absent in larger Honda models like the Pilot.

Honda goes further by integrating Google Voice Assistant into the infotainment system, a feature that works seamlessly. Simply saying, “Google, turn on heated seats,” instantly warms your seats. This integration allows for convenient control of various vehicle features and is a valuable addition, likely to become more common in future models from Honda.

Inside the cabin, a wireless charging pad is conveniently located in a spacious slot in front of the gear shifter. However, during testing with an iPhone 15 Pro, an issue was encountered. The phone’s camera bump or the magnetic coil seemed to interfere with the charging process. Given the widespread use of iPhones, this is an issue Honda should address.

Cargo Space & Storage

The Accord features an exceptionally roomy trunk, offering a generous 473L of cargo space to easily accommodate all your belongings.

Inside the cabin, the Accord maintains its commitment to space and practicality. The well-designed interior feels spacious and offers ample room for stowing small personal items. A slot in front of the gear shifter provides a convenient spot for your phone, wallet, and keys. The rear area is impressively roomy, making it easy to install child seats.

Fuel Economy

The fuel economy figures are where the Accord hybrid truly shines. It has an impressive rating of 5.0/5.7/5.3 L/100km (City/Highway/Combined). During testing, an average of 5.5 L/100km was achieved in a mix of city and highway driving. These numbers are outstanding, making the Accord hybrid an excellent option for drivers who may not be ready for an all-electric vehicle but still want the benefits of reduced fuel consumption and lower costs at the pump.
